Wherever you find your puppy, be sure to make an "informed" decision.

Always buy from a breeder you can speak with directly and not have any middle-man or broker as part of your relationship with the breeder. 

Health -- Good Genetics --   Socialization  -- Temperament  -- Warranty 

Always buy from a breeder that has verifiable references from  previous adoptive families, or vets.  Do a search on the Better Business Bureau website to confirm that the business has no complaints or has settled all complaints.

Verify the breeder's reputation by speaking with other families that have adopted puppies from them to make sure the puppies come from quality adult breeding dogs and that the breeder is honest and ethical.  Ask to see the buyer's contract and health warranty documents BEFORE you buy.  Go by contract and not just conversation. 

DEAL DIRECTLY WITH YOUR BREEDER.  GET REFERENCES.  YOU DON'T NEED ANYONE BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR BREEDER!
